Frequently asked questions

View all FAQs
Are the passwords generated here ever sent over the internet?

No. Passwords are generated locally inside your browser using your device's built-in security hardware and are never sent to any server.

When should I use a Memorable Passphrase instead of Random Characters?

Use a 4- to 6-word Memorable Passphrase when you need to type a password by hand (such as a laptop login, master password, or home Wi-Fi network). Use Random Characters when saving credentials inside a password manager.

What does Exclude Similar Characters do?

It removes look-alike characters such as uppercase 'I', lowercase 'l', the number '1', uppercase 'O', and zero '0' so your password is easy to read and type without mistakes.

Practical Example: Creating a Strong Master Password and Wi-Fi Passphrase

Sample Input
Needing a 20-character password for a password manager and a 5-word passphrase that is easy to type on a TV remote.
Result
Creates a high-strength 20-character random password and a hyphen-separated 5-word passphrase right in the browser.
